Barberitos Unveils Smaller Portion Mini Burrito Option

The United States is known for its extra-large portion sizes when it comes to food. As more of the general public becomes aware of this phenomenon and as obesity becomes a larger problem in America, having multiple portion sizes is a notable trend in recent years.

Barberitos Brings Back Mango Salsa

Barberitos rolls out its warm-weather menu item: mango salsa. The sweet salsa made its debut last year and was a hit. It is commonly paired with the jerk tilapia available on Fridays, as well as Barberitos chicken. Mango salsa will be available throughout the summer at all Barberitos locations.

Barberitos is a quick service restaurant offering Tex-Mex cuisine including a variety of burritos, tacos, salads, quesadillas, and nachos made to order.

Georgia Barberitos Turns One, Gives Back in Return

The Barberitos in Macon, Georgia, celebrated its one-year anniversary on March 5. 

In honor of its first year in business, the store donated all of its daily sales on March 5 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Owners Philip and Martin Kohnen have made it a priority to have a continuously ongoing relationship with the MDA. The Macon and Milledgeville locations, both owned by the Kohnens, participate in MDA events a few times every year.

Barberitos Hits Cary, NC, in Early March

Barberitos announced that it will be opening two new locations as March 2013 rolls around, one of which is in Cary, North Carolina.

This will be the 32nd Barberitos location to open its doors.

The Cary Barberitos will be opened at the beginning of March by Parker and Glynda McConville. The store is located in the Waverly Place shopping center.

The Southwestern Grille will offer free wireless for customers and outdoor seating.  There is a conveniently located playground for children directly outside of the restaurant.

Barberitos Offers Big Game Day Catering Deal

This year’s Super Bowl game will be played by the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. In honor of the big game and the gathering of friends and family across the nation to watch this annual event, Barberitos is offering 10 percent off any catering order for eight or more people on February 3, 2013. Available for pick-up only, this is a deal that will turn any party into a fiesta. Price and participation may vary.

Barberitos Saves the Animals with Fundraiser at NC Unit

The Asheville, North Carolina, Barberitos will be hosting a "Fiesta Night" on Tuesday, January 22, from 5:30-8 p.m. It has teamed up with the Asheville Humane Society to raise money for homeless animals. 

Hor d'oeuvres and bottled beer will be available at the event, in addition to the full Barberitos menu. Each guest will pay $10 to participate, and proceeds go to the Asheville Humane Society.

In addition, 15 percent of Barberitos' dinner sales will be donated to benefit the animals.

Georgia Barberitos Offers Free Lunch to Teachers

The Barberitos in Watkinsville, Georgia, is showing its appreciation to Oconee County teachers on January 2, 3013.

Owner David Weeks has been a member of the Oconee County Board of Education for the last eight years, and to show thanks to the teachers of OCS, Barberitos is offering a free meal to any teacher who brings in their ID badge on January 2.

Atlanta-Area Barberitos Raises Money for Local School

The Barberitos in Buckhead, Georgia, hosteda spirit night on Wednesday, December 5, to raise money for Garden Hills Elementary.   

Barberitos donated 15 percent of the evening’s sales to the school.

“It was a lot of fun hosting this spirit night and collecting money for Garden Hills,” says owner Jim Purcell. “Lots of families came out to support, and it really was a testament to the community bond at the school.”

Barberitos Sheds Pounds with "Team Lean" Competition

The Barberitos in Thomasville, Georgia, has taken opportunity to team up with the local YMCA. The program is called “Team Lean” and is an eight-week program, where contestants team up to compete to see who can lose the most weight (by percentage of body weight lost). 

Every week, contestants weigh in and the weekly standings are published in the local newspaper. At the end of the program, the team who has lost the most weight wins $5,000.
