Big Smoke Burger Sets Sights on Vancouver Expansion

Big Smoke Burger, the Toronto-based gourmet burger chain, is expanding on its presence in Canada, which currently includes various cities in the province of Ontario, and will be opening in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The recent deal is a franchised deal for three units in the territory, under franchisee Haley Grewal, who is currently evaluating real estate and plans to be open early 2015.

Big Smoke Burger is wrapped up in the Olympic festivities and is offering, for a limited time, the Sochi Burger starting February 1 at all Greater Toronto Area and Denver locations. The Sochi Burger features a new house-made Russian dressing and golden smoked Canadian Cheddar atop Big Smoke Burger’s charbroiled beef patty.

Big Smoke Burger Sets Its Sights on U.S.

Big Smoke Burger, Toronto’s dominant better-burger brand, is penetrating the U.S. markets, having already signed multiunit deals for major metro areas such as New York City, Chicago, Detroit, and Denver.

Cameron Tune of JCT Management Company, LLC, the franchisee for the Denver/Boulder metro areas, recently signed a five-unit deal in which he plans to open one per year over the next five years, starting with his first unit set to open this month. 

Tune signed a lease in Phase II of the City Set project, a major commercial development in the Cherry Creek area of Denver. 

Big Smoke Burger Leases First NY Location

Canadian burger chain Big Smoke Burger has leased its first New York location at 70 Seventh Avenue, between West 14th and West 15th Streets in Chelsea.

 

The location, which had been occupied by the previous tenant for 20 years, includes 1,000 square feet on the ground floor, 500 square feet in the basement, and 880 square feet in an outdoor courtyard. Winick Realty Group’s Alexander Hill and Jonathan Banayan represented landlord Group 868 Inc. in the transaction.

Big Smoke Burger, Toronto’s dominant better burger chain, is taking the Middle East by storm since working with Fransmart, the franchise development company whose track record in the region includes the sale of eight brands and over 200 units.  After signing 2012 deals for Kuwait and Bahrain, Big Smoke Burger closed out the year with Saudi Arabia – the largest F&B market in the Middle East. They then signed another major master development deal in the first quarter of 2013 for the UAE.
