California-based fast casual Slapfish, which serves a range of premium seafood items—including a Bowl of Shrimp either chilled or fried—partners with Aquarium of the Pacific to develop and maintain a sustainable sourcing plan.

Though U.S. consumption is well below other proteins today, seafood will likely be an increasingly important part of the American diet in the years to come. The country’s population is predicted to grow by 89 million between 2010 and 2050 to 401 million people. More people require more food—and land limitations mean the beef, pork, and poultry industries can only produce so much volume.

Pakistan To Be Boneheads’ First International Location

Boneheads Grilled Fish and Chicken has announced its entry overseas, with a franchise development agreement to open five locations in Pakistan. With two locations opening by the end of the year, Pakistan will be the first country outside the United States to open a Boneheads location. After visiting a Boneheads restaurant in the United States, franchisee Mukaram Ghani signed the five-store agreement to bring Boneheads to Pakistan. “I cannot begin to express the excitement we have for being a part of the Boneheads family,” says Ghani.

Boneheads Dives into 2014 with Expansion Plans

Since the economic downturn, fast casual has been a growing segment of the restaurant industry. According to Technomic, annual sales have reached $23 billion in recent years. From a consumer's perspective, fast casual provides a dining destination that offers a quality experience with added convenience and value. This year, Boneheads Grilled Fish and Chicken offered something for both consumers and franchisees, which contributes to an aggressive plan for expansion and franchisee support in 2014.

Boneheads Positions Itself For International Growth

Fast casual restaurants are currently the hottest segment in the restaurant industry, according to the NPD Group. The number of such chains has increased by seven percent between the spring of 2012 and this past spring. Much of this growth can be linked to fast casual concepts expanding internationally, joining already-established quick serves in regions across the globe.

James Beard Award Winner to Spice Up Boneheads Menu

Boneheads Grilled Fish and Piri Piri Chicken, an Atlanta-based fast-casual restaurant concept, announces its partnership with Mark Miller, James Beard award winner and celebrity chef. Appointed to Boneheads’ board of directors, Miller will serve as Boneheads’ new culinary consultant, providing his expertise on menu and recipe development, culinary training, and food operations. In addition, Miller will begin development of new Boneheads menu items, including a specialty dish set to arrive in select locations in August of 2013.

Boneheads Backs Franchisees With New Exec Position

In a newly formed position, St. George will serve as the liaison between the corporate team and franchisees, working to improve operations, influence franchisee profitability, and manage Boneheads’ training program.
