Del Taco to Upgrade Stores with New Design, Salsa Bar

Del Taco’s long-time customers are well aware of the quick-service chain’s value, freshness, and food preparation, from its grilled chicken to freshly made beans.

Now, the Lake Forest, California-based restaurant chain is spelling out those attributes as part of the company’s new prototype store designs and updated logo.

The updated stores feature brighter colors, salsa bars, along with short statement signs inside and outside the restaurant that extol the chain’s emphasis on freshness, such “Chicken Grilled Here” and “Beans Slow Cooked Here.”

Del Taco Debuts New Stores, Logo

Del Taco has a new logo and is testing a new restaurant prototype.  

After months of research, both are making their first appearance together at new locations in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as Irving and McKinney, Texas.

The company’s new logo will be phased in through marketing and advertising efforts beginning in Q4 while the new store prototype will be evaluated and refined over the next few quarters.

New Face at Top of Del Taco's Franchise Team

Michael Vogel has been named vice president of franchise sales for Del Taco, effective immediately.  In his new role, Vogel oversees franchise sales and market planning for the nation’s No. 2 Mexican quick-serve chain.

Reporting to Del Taco's chief development officer Jim Lyons, Vogel directs a team responsible for franchise recruitment, development, market planning, and meeting the company's goals for new franchise restaurant openings.

Ultimate Chicken Burrito Debuts at Del Taco

Fans of Del Taco’s fresh-cooked, grilled marinated chicken will find a special treat—times eight—in the new Ultimate Grilled Chicken Burrito, which is making its debut.

Ingredients include grilled chicken that has been marinated in a special recipe of spices and seasonings, zesty red sauce, seasoned rice, crisp lettuce, freshly grated cheddar cheese, fresh tomatoes, cool sour cream, and tangy guacamole all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.

Del Taco Signs Up for Big Utah Expansion

Del Taco announced a major growth initiative for Utah with the signing of a development agreement with franchisees Paul and Jane Hitzelberger of Utah Del, which will result in the addition of 13 new Del Taco locations in the state that already has 24 locations.

"Utah is a critical and growing market for Del Taco," says Jim Lyons, COO, franchising and chief development officer at Del Taco. "Our franchise partners Paul and Jane Hitzelberger are among the best in the business, and these growth plans will continue to bring Del Taco's great tasting food to more communities."

It’s official: the Dallas/Ft. Worth area gained its first Del Taco restaurant as the chain opened the doors to a restaurant in Denton.

The new Del Taco, located at 1715 S. State Loop 288 in Denton, first announced plans to open this past summer. 

"We believe the Del Taco brand is a great fit for the Dallas/Ft. Worth market,” said Paul Murphy, Del Taco CEO, at the time of the groundbreaking. “We’re excited to bring our great-tasting food and strong value options to Texas.”
