Dickey's Barbecue Pit

The Recruitment Revolution

Are young employees still interested in quick service?

Pop culture has not been kind to the quick-service industry.

From the lovable-but-dumb employees in Good Burger to the drug-addled protagonists of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, the industry is seen as a haven for dimwits, losers, and the vaguely criminal. Thousands of high school teachers threaten low-performing students by asking them, “Do you want to flip burgers for the rest of your life?”

Dickey's Plans to Add Airport Space

Dickey's Barbecue Pit has laid out initial plans to bring the family-owned and operated business to airport terminals across the country.

"The current locations in the DFW Airport allow Dickey's Barbecue Pit a platform to welcome travelers to Texas with Texas-style barbecue, and we are looking to expand these efforts," says Roland Dickey, Jr., president of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants.

This is the first Dickey's franchise opportunity for Kwon, who moved to the U.S. from Korea in 1999.

"I chose Dickey's because there's a great concept of pit-smoked barbecue at a reasonable price and in a fast-casual environment," Kwon says. "And I love beef brisket."

Dickey's Hits Miami

Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest quick-serve barbecue chain in the country, continues to grow as the initial plans begin to open its first franchise in Miami.

"Dickey's impressed us. We drove four hours to the nearest location and the meat quality, the overall food quality, was great and at a reasonable price point. We were sold," says Hicham Kehdy, an owner/operator for this initial Miami location.
