Gluten, the latest focus of the food allergy community, has had a particularly powerful impact on menus—and on employee training.
Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill announced it has introduced a whole wheat laffa wrap and gluten-free pita to its nationwide menu offerings. Guests now have the option of ordering wheat, white, or gluten-free pita, or a whole wheat or white laffa wrap.
The pre-baked, gluten-free pita is provided by MyBread Bakery, a 100-percent dedicated gluten- and nut-free wholesale bakery in Chicago. Garbanzo tested the gluten-free pita in three Colorado locations in November 2013 and received very positive guest feedback.

Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill, the Mediterranean concept headquartered in Colorado, announced it signed Houston franchise group Ella Bean to its growing restaurant enterprise.
Ella Bean is owned by area entrepreneurs and in-laws Tyson Shields, Kunal Aggarwal, and Dan Aggarwal, and is operated by experienced area restaurateur Raj Bansal. With the rights to develop up to 10 Garbanzo units in the Houston market, the franchise group is considering locations in the Memorial and The Woodlands areas of Houston, and plans to open its first Garbanzo in the spring of 2014.

Colorado-based Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill opened its first Florida location in Boca Raton at 7036 West Palmetto Park Rd. in the Garden Shops shopping center.
The new restaurant is the Mediterranean concept’s 26th location and the eighth franchise store to open to date. It is owned and operated by Garbanzo franchisee Garboca, which has the rights to develop up to 20 locations in the south Florida area and is considering real estate in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill is testing MyBread gluten-free pre-baked pita in its Aurora, Lone Tree, and Glendale, Colorado, locations through April 2014. If the test determines MyBread pita is a viable option for the restaurant concept, additional or all Garbanzo locations will carry the gluten-free product.
