Leonard "Lenny" Comma, president and chief operating officer of Jack in the Box Inc., has joined the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Serving more than 600,000 children, parents/guardians and volunteers, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, closely monitored, long-term, one-to-one mentoring matches, helping children overcome adversity to achieve success in school and in life.

Jack in the Box Refranchises 37 Units in Seattle Area

Jack in the Box Inc. disclosed the details of two refranchising transactions that were completed in early April and included in the company’s second-quarter operating results, which were announced on May 16.

On April 2, AJP Enterprises, Inc. acquired 26 Jack in the Box restaurants and Northwest Food Management Group, Inc. acquired 11 Jack in the Box restaurants. Total proceeds related to the sale of these 37 restaurants, which are all located in the greater Seattle area, were approximately $20 million.

Jack in the Box Promotes Comma to President, COO

Jack in the Box Inc. today announced Leonard A. Comma was promoted to president and chief operating officer, effective May 14, 2012.

Comma, who had served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company since 2010, retains oversight of operations, restaurant development, and franchising, and will now also oversee marketing for Jack in the Box restaurants.

Jack in the Box Adds Four Items to Value Menu

Despite Commodity Increases, Jack in the Box Has Big Q1

Despite a steep spike in beef prices in 2011, Jack in the Box was able to lay the groundwork for a successful beginning to 2012, said Linda A. Lang, CEO and president of the company, during the firm's first-quarter earnings call on February 23.

Lang told investors that same-store sales were up 5.3 percent in the first quarter due to a mix of strategic initiatives the company had employed in 2011. The surge in sales far exceeded the 1.5 percent bump for the same quarter in 2011.

StruckAxiom Wins Jack in the Box Digital Account

Jack in the Box has named StruckAxiom (http://www.struckaxiom.com) as their Digital Agency of Record. StruckAxiom won the business after several rounds and reviews from a long list of competitors.

Executives at Jack in the Box narrowed it down to two finalists, both of which were given a creative assignment. In the end, StruckAxiom presented ideas that impressed both Jack in the Box and their traditional agency, Secret Weapon.

Jack in the Box Holiday Elves Raise $250K for Charity

Jack in the Box restaurants today announced a $250,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters, which will apply the contribution to primarily support its military mentoring programs.

Monies for the donation were raised during a holiday promotion at Jack in the Box restaurants, where the chain sold a limited-edition elf ornament for $1.

With this donation, Jack in the Box fulfills a $1 million pledge it made in 2010 to support military mentoring programs.
