Jersey Mike’s Subs will officially open its first store in the state of Michigan–its 31st market– in Ann Arbor. Jersey Mike’s owner, Peter Shipman, and his operating partner Mike Wagner, know the importance of community relations and will celebrate their new ties with the area during their grand opening beginning Wednesday, May 16.
Jersey Mike’s Subs is teaming up with Christie Rampone, the captain of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team and Jersey Shore native, to create an instructional soccer video series for children that will be available on Jersey Mike’s website starting May 1.
Rampone, the first spokesperson in the company’s 56-year history, will also appear in a multi-tiered marketing program. Jersey Mike’s hopes to appeal to busy parents who are looking for fast, healthy meal options while shuttling children from school to sports practices and other activities.
Jersey Mike’s Subs aficionados throughout the country made a substantial difference in children’s lives this March during the sub chain’s second annual “Month of Giving” by helping to raise nearly $858,000 for 74 different charities nationwide. The recipients ranged from children’s hospital foundations to youth and family services organizations.
For the month of April, fast-casual restaurant Carino’s website is blue instead of the normal yellow, and if visitors click on the “Why Blue?” tab in the upper right-hand corner, they’ll find out why: the company is helping raise awareness about autism.
That’s because April is Autism Awareness Month, and quick-service and fast-casual restaurants are doing their part to help the cause.
Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants nationwide are joining forces with 74 different local charities to make a difference in children’s lives as part of the company’s 2nd Annual March “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign.
Charity partners–all with a mission to help children–include children’s hospitals, youth organizations, food banks, and more. The inaugural Month of Giving campaign last year raised more than $600,000 for 66 charities nationwide, and the hope is this year’s campaign will raise even more.
Jersey Mike’s Subs’ 55th anniversary year in 2011 was cause for celebration as the popular chain, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, opened its 500th restaurant, adding 69 new locations during the year, for record unit growth of 15 percent.
In addition, in 2011, the company awarded contracts to open 216 restaurants in 76 territories, attracting multi-brand, multi-unit franchisees as well as providing expansion opportunities to existing franchise owners.

Jersey Mike's Subs announced it has signed an agreement with PepsiCo to retain exclusive beverage pouring rights in its 500 locations across 30 states.
This multi-year partnership encompasses PepsiCo's comprehensive beverage portfolio including carbonated soft drinks such as Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Mountain Dew, as well as Lipton iced teas, Aquafina, SoBe, and Gatorade products.
The sub sandwich chain also features PepsiCo's food portfolio, carrying a wide array of Frito-Lay snacks.
