Krystal Contracts with New Branding Agencies

The Krystal Company, known for its iconic square burgers, announced a new agency lineup to support the brand’s marketing efforts: 22squared was named creative agency of record, NewFire Media as digital agency of record, Ink Link Marketing as PR and promotions agency of record, and the Johnson Group as co-op and media buying agency of record. The agencies, whose assignments are effective immediately, will report to the brand’s CMO, Jason Abelkop, and his senior team.

It’s the time of year when limited-time offers with a seafood slant start migrating onto menus. Quick-serve operators have long served fish sandwiches and other seafood specials during Lent, a six-week period between Ash Wednesday and Easter in which many consumers reduce their consumption of richer foods, specifically meats. 

Krystal Company Will Feature LTO Seafood Items

Krystal Company, known for its iconic square burger, has gone fishing for a seafood-inspired lineup to celebrate Lent. Participating restaurants will feature their best catches every day during the Lenten season: the Krystal Fish Sandwich, Deluxe Fish Sandwich, Fish Basket Combo, and the recently released Hushpups. The limited time menu items are available during lunch and dinner.

Krystal Company Names McAlister's Deli Alum as New CFO

The Krystal Company, known for its square hamburgers, announced the appointment of Carl Jakaitis as chief financial officer for the company. Jakaitis, who will oversee accounting, finance, information technology (IT), and supply chain management, will report to Omar Janjua, president and CEO for the Krystal Company. The appointment is effective immediately.

“Carl’s 35 years of restaurant industry experience will provide the Krystal Company with the additional leadership and expertise we need to continue to develop this iconic brand and help fuel our system growth,” Janjua says.

To Celebrate Pie Day, Krystal Offers Turnovers for 1 Penny

What can you get for a penny anymore? There's at least one thing a penny can still buy: At the Krystal Company, on National Pie Day, participating Krystal restaurants will accept pennies for the brand's signature Apple Turnover. Good all day only on January 23.

"Fans love our delicious apple turnover and we're happy to share it at an incredible value on National Pie Day," says Jason Abelkop, chief marketing officer for the Krystal Company. "Everyone's Friday will be a little sweeter with our signature dessert and at an add-on cost of a penny, it's impossible to turn down."

For Cyber Monday, Krystal Rolls Out Collectible Travel Mugs

The Krystal Company, known in the South for its square burgers, will be quenching guests’ thirst for savings this holiday season. Starting Cyber Monday, December 1, each Krystal restaurant will have an exclusive stock of 100 collectible travel cups available for purchase. The branded travel mug can then be brought to any participating Krystal location for unlimited 40-cent coffee refills through July 1, 2015.

Secret's Out: Krystal Shares Its Stuffing Recipe

This holiday season, The Krystal Company, known for its small square burgers, is spreading cheer by spreading the word about its own favorite holiday recipe for Thanksgiving stuffing. The once-secret recipe will be printed on limited-edition steamer pack boxes. In conjunction with the rollout of the recipe, the brand is partnering with Big Easy Foods, a producer of the TurDucHen holiday treat, to promote a new holiday favorite—the TurKRucHen: a turkey stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a hen, stuffed with Krystal stuffing. 

Krystal Celebrates 82 Years with Daylong Promo

On Tuesday, October 21, more than 350 Krystal restaurants in the Southeastern U.S. will treat guests to a celebration 82 years in the making. This time, the guests get the present—a special deal for 82 cents. Breakfast visitors can enjoy a Sunriser sandwich with a small coffee or Coke for less than a dollar. Lunch, dinner, and late-night visitors can enjoy a small Coke and the square hamburger that made the brand famous, also for 82 cents.

The Krystal Company Drives Growth with New Leadership

The Krystal Company announced additions to its leadership team that are part of an overall growth initiative to build the company into a billion-dollar brand. Seasoned veterans Jason Abelkop and Chris Kermode will join the team as chief marketing officer and vice president of supply chain, respectively. Together the two have 40 years of experience in the foodservice industry.

“We’re setting the stage for brand growth by putting the right team in place—hiring talented people like Chris and Jason and investing in our current staff,” says Doug Pendergast, CEO of The Krystal Company.
