Football fans have even more to celebrate this NFL season at McDonald’s, the new Official Restaurant Sponsor of the NFL. As part of a multi-year agreement, McDonald’s will become the presenting sponsor of the 2013 Pro Bowl and be able to feature the NFL Shield and collective use of all 32 Team logos in its marketing and advertising. The sponsorship kicks off this December with a Chicken McNugget Pro Bowl Promotion at participating McDonald’s restaurants across the country.

McDonald's Corporation announces that Jeff Stratton, currently global chief restaurant officer, will succeed Jan Fields as president of McDonald's USA, effective December 1. Fields will be leaving after more than 35 years with the company.

This month’s issue talks about demographics and how quick-service customers have changed over the years. You can find numbers and charts in another part of the magazine, so I thought it would be fun to give you my perspective on the changes, considering I started at McDonald’s in 1969 as a field marketing manager and retired in 2001. Thirty-two years of quick service—I saw a lot of changes.

For three years running, the quick-service segment, including Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, and McDonald’s, is considered one of the simplest industries by U.S. consumers (ranking No. 2 out of 25 industries) according to results from the third annual Global Brand Simplicity Index.
The study, released by global strategic branding firm Siegel+Gale, also found that despite their simplicity, quick-service restaurants stand to gain $2.6 billion more from consumers who said they are willing to pay more for even simpler experiences.
