There’s nothing quite as revitalizing as a cold drink on a hot summer afternoon. These days, however, restaurant guests are looking for more than just refreshment from their cold beverages. They are seeking fewer calories, healthful options, or, perhaps, a jolt of energy.
Cold beverages, particularly carbonated ones, have been part and parcel of quick-service restaurants from the time the first units opened. Coca-Cola, for instance, has been served at White Castle since 1921, the year the business began.
After an extensive bid competition, AERIS, the administrator of the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San Jose Costa Rica, officially announced that food and beverage services at the San Jose Airport, were awarded to Quiznos Sub S.A., a QSR International franchisee and affiliate.

Quiznos, one of the nation’s premier quick-service restaurant chains and pioneer of the toasted sandwich, announced it has named Harsha V. Agadi as executive chairman of its Board of Managers.
Originally from Mumbai, India, Agadi brings more than 25 years’ experience with foodservice companies to the position, having worked with Domino’s Pizza, Pepsi, Kraft, General Foods, Little Caesars Enterprises, Church’s Chicken, and most recently, Friendly’s Ice Cream Company.
For the first time in years, Quiznos franchisee Kevin Tackett and dozens of his fellow franchisees with the toasted-sub chain have reason to smile.
After three gloomy years of falling sales, shuttered stores, and mounting company debt, Quiznos finally appears positioned to reinvigorate the brand, build franchisee profitability, and unlock a more promising, sustainable future.
“The optimism is robust,” says Tackett, who owns seven Quiznos stores in Florida and one in Virginia.
