Today, Kester owns a 22,000-acre beef cattle ranch in California’s Monterey and Fresno counties, near Paso Robles. In the middle of the state, it’s at the “bull’s eye,” he says, of the worst drought that he—and several generations before him—has ever seen.

QSR International Opens First Smashburger in Panama

QSR International, the master franchisee of Smashburger in Central America, the Caribbean, and parts of South America, announced the opening of the first Smashburger restaurant in Panama. Panama marks the third country in which QSR International has opened Smashburger restaurants and the sixth country for Smashburger worldwide.

Smashburger Supports Davis Phinney Foundation

Smashburger will kick off a nationwide fundraiser benefiting the Davis Phinney Foundation in support of the organization’s mission to help people living with Parkinson’s disease. Starting on Monday, August 18, through September 14, all Smashburger restaurants nationwide will sell commemorative orange bracelets embossed with the foundation’s motto and rallying cry, “Every Victory Counts.” For $2, guests can show their support for those living with Parkinson’s and help fund programs and research aimed at improving quality of life.

Smashburger Serves Up Organic Arugula, Mushrooms

Smashburger added organic arugula and organic mushrooms on its menus nationwide, introducing its new Organic Arugula, Truffle Mushroom & Swiss Burger. Last year, Smashburger introduced additional organic beverage options, including Honest Fresh-Brewed Organic Teas and Apple Juice, and Horizon Organic Milk. The company is also in the process of identifying more ways to incorporate all-natural items to their menu, including all-natural grilled chicken and ice cream.

Smashburger Opens 1st Restaurant in El Salvador

QSR International, the Master Franchisee of Smashburger fast-casual, better-burger restaurants in Central America, the Caribbean, and parts of South America, announced the opening of the first Smashburger restaurant in El Salvador. El Salvador will be the second country in which QSR International has opened Smashburger restaurants.

“We’re extremely happy and excited about Smashburger and its menu. We have received amazing responses from our customers and are very motivated to make Smashburger the best in town,” says Roger Jacir, managing partner for Smashburger.
