Smashburger, one of the nation’s fastest growing “better burger” concepts, continues its Camden County expansion with the opening of its newest restaurant at 1120 White Horse Road, Voorhees, on Wednesday, January 22. Owned and operated by Voorhees Smashburger, Smashburger brings its burgers along with its Häagen-Dazs shakes, sides, and regional menu items crafted to please local’s palates.
Despite their name, french fries are as American as the 4th of July and are a mainstay in the quick-service universe. Fries are the most popular side item at U.S. limited-service eateries, outpacing others by a wide margin, according to various menu-monitoring reports.
But other fried sides are now showing more growth potential than french fries. As consumers look to experience new flavors and seek a healthy halo from vegetable consumption, restaurateurs are providing more fried-side options.

Smashburger continues its Westchester County expansion with the opening of its newest restaurant located at the Midway Shopping Center, 913 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale, New York, on Monday, December 9. Owned and operated by Smash Partners, Smashburger brings its burgers that are smashed fresh, served along with its Haagen-Dazs shakes, and regional menu items crafted to please locals’ palates. The company has hired 45 local team members to staff its new location.
Smashburger announced it has added four new partners to its growing family of better-burger franchisees. The commitment for 54 new restaurants brings Smashburger’s total active franchise pipeline to about 400 units set to open over the next several years. As a part of the company’s ongoing commitment to expand operations across all fifty states, the agreements launch Smashburger into new markets in Oakland, California, and Orlando, Florida, in addition to further extending its footprint in Atlanta; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Jacksonville, Florida.
QSR International, the master franchisee of Smashburger in Central America, the Caribbean, and parts of South America, has entered into a development agreement with Corporacion Hamburgo S.A. de C.V. to develop three Smashburger restaurants in El Salvador. QSR International has also entered into a development agreement with Carlos Eduardo Lopez to develop 15 Smashburger restaurants in Venezuela.
Smashburger, the better-burger restaurant concept, announced that Scott Crane, who has led company operations for the past six years as president, was appointed to the position of chief executive officer. This news comes upon the departure of former CEO David Prokupek.
Smashburger, the expanding better burger concept, announced it will be the first national restaurant chain to roll out Honest Tea’s iced tea options at all restaurants nationwide. Honest Tea is a top-selling organic bottled tea company. Each Smashburger location will brew a selection of iced tea options, all made from organic ingredients, including Classic Green Tea, Just Iced Tea, Lemon Herbal Tea, and Naturally Flavored Raspberry Tea.
Smashburger, the rapidly expanding better-burger restaurant concept, unveiled an exclusive limited-time only Raspberry Sorbet Shake to benefit Susan G. Komen and in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The new shake will be available in Smashburger restaurants throughout the U.S. from Tuesday, October 1 through Thursday, October 31, 2013. The Raspberry Sorbet Shake is hand-spun and combines Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream with Häagen-Dazs Raspberry Sorbet for a blended treat.
