Taco Cabana Opens in San Antonio with Remodeled Look

San Antonio-based Taco Cabana celebrates the opening of a new restaurant location in its hometown at 1-10 and Ralph Fair Road. The location, which reflects the brand's recent evolution and draws on the ideas of fun and flavor with a relaxed patio vibe, is the first new location in San Antonio since July 2008.

Its opening coincides with a yearlong initiative to remodel all San Antonio restaurant locations that is already underway.

Fiesta Restaurant Group Names Chief Development Officer

Fiesta Restaurant Group, Inc, the parent-owner of the Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana brands, has named industry veteran John Todd as its chief development officer. 

Todd, who will report to Fiesta Restaurant CEO Tim Taft, will be responsible for all facets of Fiesta’s real estate and development, including site selection, design, and construction of new restaurants and the upgrading and re-imaging of existing facilities. In addition, he will work with Taft on various franchise initiatives.

Taco Cabana Reels in Seasonal Favorite, Shrimp Tampico

For the fifth year in a row, Taco Cabana is bringing one of its most popular limited-time offers back to the menu, re-introducing a line of Shrimp Tampico items just in time for the Lenten season.

According to Walter "Smokey" Waters, corporate chef at Taco Cabana, the restaurant's take on Shrimp Tampico features shrimp that are hand-marinated daily in a mix of chipotle and ancho spices right in the restaurant.

Taco Cabana Raises Funds for Military Families

On November 16, 2011, Taco Cabana presented a $63,596 donation to the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC), a one-of-a-kind national rehabilitation center located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

The donation will help the Center assist recovering military members and their families to take trips during the holiday season, as well as help fund holiday gifts for soldiers and their families.

Taco Cabana Simmers Up Fajita Tacos, Avocado Salsa

Taco Cabana introduces another Mexican favorite by adding all-new chicken and steak fajitas puebla tacos to its menu for a limited time.

The new fajitas puebla tacos are made with marinated steak or all-white meat chicken, topped with a mix of fresh pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, and chopped bacon. For the final touch, Taco Cabana created a creamy avocado sauce made with avocados, jalapenos, sour cream, and chopped cilantro topped off with a hint of fresh lime juice.

Media measurement technology firm General Sentiment released its newest brand analysis, the Fall 2010 Fast Food Industry Report. The report highlights the brands that made the most significant media impact online between September and November. Despite declining nearly 20 percent since the summer, Starbucks still topped General Sentiment’s Impact Value rankings, more than doubling the totals of second and third place brands McDonald’s and Burger King.
