Taco John's Preps For Growth With New Commerce Platform

Taco John's, the West-Mex quick-service restaurant chain, is deploying the FreedomPay Commerce Platform across more than 400 locations, aiming to position Taco John's for nationwide recognition and growth.

"The FreedomPay Commerce Platform is an important foundation for our plans to drive growth and increase the long-term value of the business," says Jeff Linville, Taco John's newly installed CEO. "Our new platform will allow us to better connect with our customers in today's increasingly hyper-connected world."

Taco John's New VP Plans to Double Store Count

Shawn Eby has been named the vice president of operations for the Mexican quick-service restaurant chain Taco John’s International. Eby joins Taco John’s with 26 years of experience in the restaurant industry and was most recently the senior director of franchise operations in the northeast region for Arby’s Restaurant Group.

 

Genghis Grills Recognizes Vendor of the Year

Improving Restaurants, a technology and software provider for the restaurant industry, announced that it has earned the Genghis Grills 2012 Vendor of the Year Award.

In delivering the people, processes, and software that drive business performance for Genghis Grills, Improving Restaurants finished at the top of a who's who list of restaurant supply companies to be selected.

The award was presented by CEO Al Bhakta and the executive team at Genghis Grills’ annual Genghis Khanvention at the Omni Park West Hotel in Irving, Texas.

Taco John's Website Receives W3 Silver Award

A website designed to market a Mexican fast-food chain is attracting attention far beyond the restaurant industry.

The International Academy of Visual Arts has selected TacoJohns.com for a 2012 W³ Silver Award.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition. It means a lot to our team,” says Renée Middleton, vice president of marketing at Taco John’s. “However, as a company, we judge our website by how well it helps our business grow. Using that measuring stick, we’ve been successful developing a site that is not only informative, but also engaging and entertaining.”

Drive Time

Breakfast is on a roll.

Even though most Americans prepare or eat their morning meals at home, an increasing number of them are opting for breakfast on the way to work, particularly at quick-service restaurant locations.

Nearly half of consumers visited a limited-service restaurant for their early meal last year, up from a third in 2009. So it’s no surprise that at least half a dozen quick serves launched breakfast dayparts in the past three years, while many others added new menu items.

Taco John’s is showing appreciation to its customers by serving free Meat & Potato Breakfast Burritos on Wednesday, August 15.

One free burrito per customer is available to everyone who visits a participating restaurant from 7–10 a.m. on August 15.

"We want to say ‘thank you’ to our customers who start their day with Taco John’s,” says Renée Middleton, vice president of marketing at Taco John’s International. “For anyone who has never tried our Meat & Potato Breakfast Burrito, this is the perfect time to sample one for free.”
