Wingstop Opens First Detroit Location

Wingstop is opening its newest wing location in Detroit at 1331 8 Mile Rd. with some added Detroit history.

John Draper, brand partner and operator of the newest Michigan Wingstop, makes this location the fourth location in the state and the first in the Detroit area. Local wing aficionados not only can stop in for game days and local events, but customers can also see a compilation of vintage Tuskegee Airmen photos adorning the Wingstop walls.

Wingstop Opens Its Doors in Columbus, OH

Wingstop opened its third location in Columbus, Ohio, for fans to get their wing fix. The award-winning chicken chain recently opened a new restaurant at 1823 Morse Rd. in front of Menards.

The new location is thanks to Wingstop franchisee, Matthew Morrison, who signed a multi-unit development deal in hopes of furthering Wingstop’s introduction throughout the Columbus area. Morrison owns and operates another Columbus Wingstop location at 2836 Stelzer Road and has plans for development of the fourth Columbus, Ohio, Wingstop the beginning of 2014 in Whitehall.

Wingstop Promotes New California Location

Wingstop announced it will celebrate the grand opening of its newest location in La Cañada on Saturday, October 19 with a special offer for every customer that walks in on that day.

Guests can participate in the location’s Take 5 event to receive five free classic or boneless wings, tossed in their choice of Wingstop’s flavors. The offer is available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no purchase.

Wingstop Announces Second High School Scholar Athlete of the Month

For the second time this school year, Wingstop is recognizing the High School Scholar Athlete of the Month sponsored by Wingstop and KTVT CBS.

Each month, Wingstop and KTVT-TV CBS invite viewers, athletic directors, coaches, and members of the community to nominate exceptional athletes from the Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, metroplex to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Wingstop. Nathan Byrd, a student at W.T. White High School, was selected for the month of September for his ability to excel in academia and his athletic accomplishments.

Wingstop Signs Up For 5 Units Near D.C.

Wingstop is expanding throughout Northern Virginia. The 591-unit wing chain recently signed a multiunit development agreement with Brigadier General Joseph Bass to develop five stores in the area.

General Bass spent the last three decades serving in the United States Army, and with plans to retire this year, believes franchising is the perfect transition from a military career.

Wingstop Turns Its Focus To UAE With Multiunit Deal

Wingstop is spreading its wings into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) thanks to an exclusive multiunit deal with AWGAL Investments. The first Wingstop restaurants will open in mid-2014.

Under the leadership of chairman Abdul-Wahab Galadari and president and CEO Zubair A. Razzaq, AWGAL Investments will open a minimum of 15 restaurants in the UAE over the next few years.

Sweet and Spicy Collide In Newest Wingstop Flavor

Sweet meets heat in the newest flavor to hit the Wingstop menu, Mango Habanero.

In development for the past year and available for a limited time, Mango Habanero starts out sweet and then brings the heat.

“Our fans are passionate about their wings and expect the boldest flavors from us. Mango Habanero delivers that,” says Charlie Morrison, Wingstop president and CEO. “Whether you like it sweet or spicy, Mango Habanero packs a flavorful punch.”

Mango Habanero is available sauced, tossed, and made to order on classic or boneless wings.

Wingstop Opens 10 Units In August, Grows 10.3 Percent In Sales

Wingstop served up one of its busiest growth months in company history. The concept opened 10 stores in August alone, which comes on the heels of a 10.3 percent increase in same-store sales in the second quarter.

The high-flying chicken chain spread its wings with new locations this month in San Diego, Baltimore, Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Francisco, and Columbus, Ohio.

Wingstop is on track to finish the year with 70 new U.S. locations, while focusing on an expanded presence in the Northeast and Southeast.

Jimmy John’s, Chipotle Ranked Among Fastest-Growing Chains

The list of the fastest-growing retailers this year tells a story of consumers’ growing affinity for fast-fashion, specialty grocery items, and apparel. STORES Hot 100 Retailers list, published annually in the August issue of STORES magazine, consists of retail companies that reported the greatest increase in domestic sales between 2011 and 2012. All public and private companies with more than $300 million in sales were eligible for the list, which was compiled by Kantar Retail.
