Zaxby’s Franchising Inc. announced its expansion into another new state with a multi-unit restaurant agreement. Veteran ZFI multi-unit franchisees Ben Williams Sr. and Bill McGeary, joined by Ben Williams Jr., have signed a deal that gives them exclusive rights to northeast Oklahoma, including the DMA of Tulsa. This deal is the second new-state multi-unit deal in the past 60 days for Zaxby’s, the Athens, Georgia–based fast-casual brand.
Zaxby’s is treating its customers to a new Fan Special meal. To kick off the Fan Special, the brand’s new TV spots, airing this week, encourage guests to participate in its Prove Your Fanhood video contest. The contest is a part of Zaxby’s new Check-In For Chicken social rewards program that reflects Zaxby’s college football and basketball sponsorship with 28 Division I colleges across the chain’s 13-state footprint.

The fast-casual category has been the fastest-growing restaurant segment over the past two years, according to market research firm Technomic, as operators in the category continue to effectively balance higher-quality, convenient foods with a more upscale environment.
This success has come even as fast casuals offer higher price points than traditional quick serves. A recent Technomic report found that consumers are happily paying more at fast casuals in both the lunch and dinner dayparts.
The list of the fastest-growing retailers this year tells a story of consumers’ growing affinity for fast-fashion, specialty grocery items, and apparel. STORES Hot 100 Retailers list, published annually in the August issue of STORES magazine, consists of retail companies that reported the greatest increase in domestic sales between 2011 and 2012. All public and private companies with more than $300 million in sales were eligible for the list, which was compiled by Kantar Retail.
Zaxby’s is shaking up its menu with the return of two fan favorites and debut of two new offerings. The fast-casual chicken chain is rolling out a new line of premium milkshakes including the popular Birthday Cake and Banana Pudding Milkshakes and the new Chocolate Cookie Milkshake. The new milkshakes are now a permanent menu enhancement, replacing the traditional chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla flavors. Zaxby’s also is introducing a new Cobb Zalad to its salad line through summer’s end.
