Bolstered by industry-leading same-store sales, Buffalo Wild Wings® plans to continue its aggressive growth this year.

Buffalo Wild Wings franchise

Buffalo Wild Wings last year reached the halfway point in its goal of opening more than 1,000 U.S. restaurants. In 2009, the company is looking for more franchisees to continue its expansion nationwide.

Now headquartered in Minneapolis, the chain was founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1982 by Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery, business partners who shared a love of Buffalo, New York–style chicken wings. Buffalo Wild Wings’ boldly flavored, made-to-order menu items and 14 signature wing sauces have earned the chain dozens of “Best Wings” awards across the nation. Its inviting, sports-oriented atmosphere makes it a neighborhood destination for guests and has earned the chain a number of “Best Sports Bar” awards.

“There is nothing else like the Buffalo Wild Wings experience,” says Carolyne Chalupnik, director of franchise sales for the company. “It’s what sets us apart. You’ll find our restaurants filled with guests watching sports on the big screens, playing trivia on TVs, and enjoying great food at a reasonable price in a very fun and social atmosphere.” Guests can enjoy a full-service bar or the option of takeout.

With a unit expansion rate of 15 percent per year, Buffalo Wild Wings is one of the top 10 fastest-growing chains in the country.

“Our success in industry-leading same-store sales is fueling our continued growth, while other concepts are slowing or stopping their growth plans and even closing units,” Chalupnik says.

The company currently has more than 560 locations, including 366 franchise units and 199 company-owned units, in 39 states. Buffalo Wild Wings plans to continue its expansion in nearly all regions, with opportunities available in Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, and West Virginia.

“We’re looking for experienced multi-unit operators who get involved with their community and are passionate about the Buffalo Wild Wings brand,” Chalupnik says.

Buffalo Wild Wings’ average weekly unit volume exceeds $45,000 for franchised locations.

The brand has shown longevity and success, and franchisees will enjoy the strength and resources, irreverent brand positioning, and a cult-like following for its craveable food and fun atmosphere. Those who join the Buffalo Wild Wings team will also be supported by national and local brand marketing, regional marketing, field representatives, franchise operational consultants, and a learning and development department to help them along.

“If you’re looking for a well-established, growing brand, this is where you need to be,” Chalupnik says.
