Now entering its eighth year, the 2012 AIA|LA Restaurant Design Awards honor excellence in the design of restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges, and nightclubs. From the quirky cafe to the haute designed hole‐in‐the‐wall, the fast food chain to the high‐end dining experience–the RDA competition wants to see them all!
This annual competition honors excellence in restaurant design, and is open to all individuals and practices with both restaurant owners and architects/designers invited to submit. Either the project itself must be located in the United States, or the submitting individual/firm must be US-based.
Submissions are accepted in three main categories: (1) Restaurants, (2) Cafés/Bars, and (3) Lounges/Nightclubs
The RDAs hope to see a great selection of submissions from across the nation, especially since there is a stellar jury coming together to review all of the entries, including:
- Evan Kleiman, host of KCRW's Good Food, chef, restaurateur, and author
- Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA, architect and principal of award‐winning Rios Clementi Hale Studios
- Michael Voltaggio, winner of Bravo's Top Chef, chef, and restaurateur
Claim a spot in the competition by registering at www.aialosangeles.org no later than Monday, April 2, 2012, and then submit your required materials a month later by Thursday, May 4, 2012.
Entry fees remain unchanged since year No. 1 of the program at $75/entry for AIA members and $125/entry for Non members. Entrants will be eligible for recognition in both the Jury and People's Choice awards categories and once again, the winners will be announced on the main stage of Dwell magazine'sDwell on Design expo floor on Friday, June 22, 1012.
