Powerhouse Dynamics, creator of the eMonitor energy, water, and asset management platform, announced that Arby’s Restaurant Group is installing eMonitor systems in all 860-plus corporate-owned stores across the country.

The rollout is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.

"We have been very impressed by the capabilities of the eMonitor," says Scott Boatwright, senior vice presidnet of operations at Arby’s. "Not only will the system enable us to get HVAC costs under control in the restaurants where they have been installed, but they will also help identify problems with both rooftop cooling units and refrigeration equipment.”

The eMonitor controls HVAC and other electrical loads with a user-friendly—and in Arby’s case—enterprise-wide, Web interface and mobile apps. It also remotely monitors equipment to diagnose performance issues and identify savings opportunities.

More importantly, while the information is being gathered at each company-owned store, the eMonitor makes it simple to benchmark energy and water usage across all facilities regionally and nationally. This allows multi-location companies to identify star performers and share best practices, optimizing performance across the chain.

Arby’s is also taking advantage of the eMonitor’s “Food Safety Scorecard,” a key feature that continuously monitors temperature in relevant refrigeration (and potentially) heated holding equipment.

The Scorecard supports a critical chain-wide requirement to monitor product temperatures in order to identify issues before they become food-safety emergencies.

"We are delighted that Arby’s, the first nationally franchised, coast-to-coast sandwich chain, has embraced the eMonitor,” says Martin Flusberg, Powerhouse Dynamics CEO. “We are also thrilled to have been chosen through a competitive process in which Arby’s installed systems from multiple companies and concluded that the eMonitor delivered the best enterprise-wide value."
