Einstein Bros. Bagels, retailer of fresh-baked bagels, cream cheese shmears, soups, sandwiches and salads, announced that it will donate a percentage of its sales on March 17, 2000 to Share Our Strength, an anti-poverty and anti-hunger organization.

Following up on a similar holiday-themed campaign that raised $100,000 for Share Our Strength in December 1999, Einstein Bros. will donate 5% of sales of its delicious Bagel Buckets to SOS. The buckets include 13 freshly baked bagels and two six-ounce cream cheese shmears. Also under this promotion—for an additional $1.59— customers will have a choice of purchasing a two-ounce package of its Neighborhood Blend or Vanilla Hazelnut coffee.

“Einstein Bros. Bagels. wants to make a difference in the lives of our customers and the communities in which they live. Share Our Strength is a perfect ally to help us take strides towards this goal,” said Bob Hartnett, Einstein Bros. Bagels CEO. “We continue to partner with Share Our Strength because it has proven over the years that it can make a significant and lasting impact toward helping to fight hunger nationwide.”

“We work with companies that demonstrate a sincere commitment to the communities in which they operate,” said Bill Shore, executive director of Share Our Strength. “Einstein Bros. Bagels makes an ideal partner because they engage their entire organization in our common purpose. We’re also delighted to have the opportunity to share our approach to ending hunger with Einstein Bros. on St. Patrick’s Day.”

This year, as always, Einstein Bros. Bagels will be “sharing some good luck” with green bagels from March 1-17. In addition, Einstein Bros. has a cornucopia of delicious St. Patrick’s Day celebration treats, including lucky Irish Creme decaffeinated coffee and iced, shamrock-shaped sugar cookies.

Share Our Strength is the nation’s leading anti-hunger, antipoverty organization that mobilizes industries and individuals to contribute their talent in the fight against hunger.

Since 1984, Share Our Strength has distributed more than $55 million to 1,000 organizations working to prevent the causes and consequences of hunger and poverty in the U.S. and abroad.
