Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Truck will be keeping things cool in Boston by giving out thousands of free scoops of ice cream from July 28 through August 25. The Scoop Truck will be making stops at community events, parks, offices, and beaches in the greater Boston area.

Ben & Jerry’s is leaving the almighty scoop in Bostonians’ hands and asking them to direct the Scoop Truck to its next destination through Twitter @BenJerrysTruck and Facebook.

Bostonians will be treated to endless free scoops of Milk & Cookies and Boston Cream Pie, two of Ben & Jerry’s recent flavor creations. The newest fair trade flavor, Milk & Cookies, is made of vanilla ice cream with a chocolate cookie swirl and chocolate chip cookies. Staying true to New England’s decadent roots, Boston Cream Pie, a mix of Boston Cream Pie flavored ice cream with yellow cake pieces, fudge flakes, and swirls of pastry cream will be served.

“There’s nothing like ice cream to cool you down in the middle of this heat wave we’ve been having. We thought it would be cool to sweeten Bostonians’ days with free ice cream in August,” says Jason Sweeney, owner of three Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops in Boston who’s staff will be managing the program. “We hope to cool off one Bostonian at a time by giving people the power to request the truck through Twitter and Facebook.”
