The bignews at McDonald’s is the addition of an “Xtra” special, “Xtra” big sandwich called McDonald’s Big Xtra! On January 11, 2000, McDonald’s restaurants begin serving the new lettuce and tomato sandwich created to satisfy and please the heartiest appetite.

The Big Xtra! Sandwich features McDonald’s largest 100% beef patty and is seasoned at the grill with a unique new blend of spices served on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, a a tomato slice, onions, pickles, ketchup and mayonnaise. Customers can also order the sandwich with cheese.

“We think our customers are really going to enjoy the great new taste and size of this lettuce and tomato sandwich,” said Don Dresser, Indianapolis CoOp President, a McDonald’s franchisee in Greenfield, IN. “McDonald’s customers have come to expect and appreciate the variety of sandwich choices available on our menu and we are sure Big Xtra! Will become another customer favorite.”

McDonald’s Big Xtra! arrives in Central Indiana as McDonald’s innovative cooking production system, known as Made for You, is completing its rollout in restaurants across the country. The Made for You food preparation system enables McDonald’s to make the Big Xtra! And all McDonald’s sandwiches just the way customers like them–prepared as they are ordered.
