Blimpie International, Inc. (Amex: BLM) announced the grand opening of its first tri-branded location in Toronto, Canada on March 17.

This location will include Blimpie Subs & Salads; Pasta Central, a newly created quick-service restaurant concept that offers prepared pasta meals and pasta meal components for eat-in or take-home consumption; and Smoothie Island , a beverage concept offering a menu consisting of blended frozen sorbet, fruit, and nutritional supplements tailored to individual customer preference. This location is one of many firsts for Blimpie in Toronto. It is the first Blimpie in Toronto and it is the first tri-branded location in Canada.

"We are very excited about opening in Toronto because this is a very competitive market for quick-service restaurants," said Chris Joseph, group vice president—international. "The franchisee, Jamie Wisebrod, has a winner's attitude and is a pioneer in this key urban market. In a city with diverse cultures and sophisticated tastes, the varied menu and unique environment suits a cosmopolitan city like Toronto."

This location is one of high visibility for Blimpie as it is located on one of the busiest streets in Toronto and one of the longest streets in the world, Yonge Street. Blimpie can be found in other Canadian provinces including Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia.
