Blimpie International, Inc., global franchisor of BLIMPIE restaurants, announced its 2004 Blimpie International, Inc. Scholarship winners. The announcement was made by Jeff Endervelt, president and CEO of Blimpie International, Inc.

Samantha Blasbalg of Barrington, Rhode Island; Kellie J. Melvin of Cheyenne,Wyoming; and Vinesh J. Patel, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, each earned a $2,000 scholarship award that will be applied toward tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, and other related educational expenses.

The new Blimpie International, Inc. Scholarship program was established to help finance a portion of the costs of a college education for the children of the Blimpie Family, which includes children of Blimpie International franchisees, area representatives, and full-time employees of Blimpie International.

Selection of winners for the Blimpie International, Inc. Scholarship program was based upon numerous criteria including strong academic record, positive school recommendations, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities, outside interests, and work experience.

“We are extremely proud of our first class of scholarship recipients,” says Endervelt. “Each of our employees and their family members are vital to our success. I can’t think of a better way to invest in our future than to lend a hand to those family members who have worked hard to earn an opportunity at higher education.”

According to Endervelt, each winner’s scholarship is renewable provided that the students maintain full-time attendance and remain in good academic standing.
