Breakfast Sandwiches Rolled Out Nationwide at Caribou
Just a year after introducing handcrafted oatmeal in stores, Caribou Coffee, the nation’s second-largest coffeehouse chain, is rolling out hot and wholesome breakfast sandwiches in its coffeehouses across the country. Served fresh from the oven, Caribou Coffee Daybreaker and Mini breakfast sandwiches expand Caribou Coffee’s offerings as a one-stop breakfast destination for premium coffee and wholesome breakfast options.
Made with ingredients such as all-natural Wisconsin cheddar, savory chicken apple sausage, and spinach Florentine and served on oven-warmed brioche rolls, ciabatta, and biscuits, the new Caribou Coffee breakfast sandwiches are perfect for those looking for a high-quality breakfast on the go. The new sandwich offerings include Chicken Apple Sausage Daybreaker, Egg White and Turkey Bacon Daybreaker, and Veggie Daybreaker, as well as two mini sandwiches—Turkey Bacon Mini and Turkey Sausage Mini.
“Many of our guests make our coffeehouses their first stop of the morning, and we’re proud to offer premium breakfast options that complement the level of quality they expect from our coffee,” says Alfredo Martel, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Caribou Coffee.
The hot breakfast sandwiches, served fresh from the oven in Caribou’s coffeehouses, are all 310 calories or less. And as part of the company’s continued commitment to value, Caribou Coffee is offering a special pairing of one Daybreaker sandwich and a medium coffee of the day for around $4.
Since introducing handcrafted oatmeal to their menu last January, Caribou further expanded its menu last fall with two new oatmeal flavors—Banana Walnut and Blueberry Almond. Guests can chose from other flavors such as Classic, Maple Brown Sugar Crunch, Very Berry, and Apple Cinnamon, or they can simply select their own toppings. All oatmeal flavors are available with either traditional oats or a 7-Grain blend with added protein.
To celebrate the launch of breakfast sandwiches nationwide, Caribou Coffee developed a media plan that included online and transit shelters in select markets. In Minneapolis, Caribou transformed transit shelters to larger-than-life warming ovens, complete with heating coils to keep commuters warm.
In addition to these expanded breakfast items, Caribou Coffee also expects to reach its milestone of 100 percent Rainforest Alliance certification for all of its coffees in 2011. Currently, more than 85 percent of Caribou Coffee’s full line of coffees is Rainforest Alliance Certified—meaning they’ve been sourced from farms that meet the Rainforest Alliance standards for environmental, social and economic sustainability.
