Dallas, TX— June 17, 2002—Burger King Corporation today awarded the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) with an Award of Excellence for “its ceaseless efforts to support U.S. servicemen and women deployed to locations around the world in support of the war on terrorism.”

The award was presented to AAFES Major General Charles J. Wax at the AAFES headquarters in Dallas by Vince Berkeley, Burger King’s senior vice president of corporate relations. The Award of Excellence, a revolving 9-inch crystal globe, was specially created for AAFES.

“After the horrifying terrorist attacks on our nation, we saw every day heroes emerge,” said Berkeley. “In the AAFES organization, there are many heroes. It took a fine group of individuals to go above and beyond the call of duty. This was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for our company to be a part of something so important. “
