Honoring Bojangles’ status as one of the fastest growing restaurant companies nationally, the Charlotte Business Journal has awarded Eric Newman, executive vice president and general counsel for Bojangles’ Restaurants Inc., with its inaugural Corporate Counsel Award.

The Charlotte Business Journal solicited nominations from readers, and a judging panel provided by the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Charlotte chapter and the CBJ editorial staff evaluated lawyers.

Winners were recognized in several categories based on the size of their departments. Staff ranged from the solo practitioner to those with more than 30 attorneys. Newman competed in the category of legal departments with a staff of two to 10.

“Eric’s 27 years of experience at Bojangles’ is matched only by the breadth of his responsibilities, overseeing the departments of franchise development, real estate, construction, and law,” says President and CEO Randy Kibler. “Regardless of economic times, Eric’s focus and dedication has been paramount to the success of our company.”
