California Tortilla Gives to Share Our Strength

East Coast fast casual chain California Tortilla has pledged a minimum of $25,000 to Share Our Strength’s annual Dine Out for No Kid Hungry. Customers will be encouraged to donate $1 to the cause in any California Tortilla location from Tuesday, September 4 through Sunday, September 23. Customers who donate will receive a coupon valid for a free taco on their next visit.

In addition to the in-store collection, customers can enter the California Tortilla Dine Out Truck Hunt. Through a partnership with food distributor Saval Foods and Chesapeake Business Solutions, California Tortilla will place Dine Out-themed public service announcement posters on the sides of delivery trucks all over the chain’s footprint.

Customers who take a photo of the signs - not while they are driving - and upload them to the chain’s Facebook page, mention them on Twitter (#caltorttruckhunt), or email them to spunky@caltort.com will be entered to win a free catered party for 20 people. Also, the corporate office will donate $1 to Share Our Strength for each photo uploaded and sent.

“At California Tortilla we take food very seriously and that includes the huge issue of food insecurity right here at home,” says Vice President of Marketing Stacey Kane. “The Share Our Strength Dine Out for No Kid Hungry allows us to involve our customers in ending childhood hunger.”

With over 16 million kids in the U.S., nearly 20% deal with hunger. This is the fourth year California Tortilla has participated in the Dine Out.
