Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop introduces “The Greatest Sandwich in America” to the state of North Carolina with its 88th location.

Residents of Wilmington can celebrate the arrival of nationally renowned gourmet sub shop, famous for its 36-year tradition of in-house roasted turkey and roast beef.

Franchisees Tony Karboski and Connie Mearkle will own and operate the new shop opening in their home community of Wilmington.

Capriotti’s is famous for The Bobbie, voted “Greatest Sandwich in America” by thousands of AOL readers and crafted with a mixture of hand-pulled light and dark turkey meat, cranberry sauce, homemade stuffing, and a touch of mayo on a freshly baked roll.

With recent accolades, including one of USA Today’s “10 Great Places to Bite Into a Surprising Sandwich” and “Best of” awards in multiple markets—including, Dallas, San Diego, Eastern Shores, Las Vegas, and their home state, Delaware—Capriotti’s will add a flavorful touch to Wilmington with signature subs such as the Capastrami, made with hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and cole slaw, and the hot Cheesesteak, with premium grilled steak and melted white American cheese.

For a fresh twist on Capriotti’s same great ingredients, guests can indulge in a hand-tossed salad, such as the Chopped Italian Salad, made with mixed greens, salami, capacolla, pepper ham, Provolone cheese, garbanzo beans, black olives, tomatoes, and diced cucumbers.

“My wife, Connie, and I decided to leave the corporate world in Maryland to return to our home state to start a new chapter,” Karboski says. “We then fell in love with Capriotti’s and jumped at the opportunity to introduce our neighbors to their extraordinary sandwiches.

“We are eager to bring Capriotti’s great taste to this tight-knit community and open even more restaurants in North Carolina in the not-too-distant future,” he adds.

“We look forward to bringing North Carolina our award-winning sandwiches, and we promise to impress with our unique sandwiches and unmatched flavor,” says Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s. “This is another exciting step in Capriotti’s national expansion, and we cannot wait for Wilmington, North Carolina, residents to taste our subs for the first time.”
