Continuing the strengthening of Captain D's management team, Phil Greifeld, CEO and president of the company, announced the hiring of Janet Duckham as its vice president of purchasing. Duckham most recently served as the vice president of purchasing and distribution of Luby's Restaurants.

In her new role, Duckham is responsible for the worldwide sourcing of Captain D's food and supplies for its 535 U.S. and international restaurants.

"Janet possesses rich business insights, as well as best-in-class abilities in procurement and distribution," Greifeld says. "Captain D's is committed to providing our guests with top-quality food at reasonable prices. Janet's insightful knowledge about food sourcing, including seafood, will serve the D's brand well in delivering a consistent, quality product to our guests that exceed their expectations. Prior to joining Captain D's, Duckham worked at Luby's Restaurants for more than 23 years, where she climbed the ranks and most recently managed all aspects of the supply chain for 135 restaurants and culinary services locations. Among her accomplishments, she successfully hedged numerous commodity-based products for annual savings of 20 percent and implemented a detailed contract/pricing management system.

"Throughout my career, I have had the privilege or learning, experiencing, and testing many restaurant industry best practices and now I have the opportunity to apply my experience to an established brand that still has tremendous potential,” she says. “I am excited to be a part of the Captain D's management team that will be driving the brand to great success.”

She also spent time as Luby's vice president of purchasing /product development. During her tenure she consolidated and reduced all major food distributors from 150 to 25, as well as pioneered on-line food ordering, automated invoice matching, and night drops.
