CKE Restaurants, Inc. announced today that Carl’s Jr. has introduced a new premium entree salad, the Green Burrito Taco Salad. The Green Burrito brand is part of the CKE Restaurants family, and its menu is sold within many Carl’s Jr. restaurants. However, the new Taco Salad will be introduced throughout the entire Carl’s Jr. system starting today, providing all of the burger chain’s guests with a taste of the Green Burrito menu for the first time.

The Green Burrito Taco Salad is a hearty entree salad featuring a crispy, bowl-shaped tortilla shell filled with spicy, seasoned ground beef, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, shredded lettuce, refried beans, sour cream, hot sauce and fresh-made salsa. Participating Carl’s Jr. restaurants will offer the Green Burrito Taco Salad at a suggested retail price of $3.99. “Every summer, Carl’s Jr. introduces a new premium entree salad, but this year we’re doing it in a little bit different way,” says Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Carl’s Jr. “We tested several salad candidates for this year’s salad offering, including one that was previously only available on the Green Burrito menu, and we found that we had a winner right under our noses.

Some Carl’s Jr. began offering two both menus under the same roof in 1994. The introduction of a single Green Burrito menu item onto the Carl’s Jr. menu is somewhat unusual butHaley says the move makes sense. “The Green Burrito Taco Salad will allow all Carl’s Jr. customers to become acquainted with the Green Burrito brand in a limited way, and we believe that, longer term, it will help pave the way for the continued introduction of the entire Green Burrito menu into even more Carl’s Jr. locations,” he says.
