Charley’s Grilled Subs announced the opening of its 400th location, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the Oak Court Mall. The benchmark store is set to open January 25 during National Philly CheeseSteak Month. Charley Shin, founder and CEO of the chain, will be in attendance to lead the grand opening, where his most important announcement will be in regards to a donation made to one local school, which in turn will be developing a student scholarship.

The 400th location represents a milestone for the Philly Steak maker, both within the company and within the segment overall. Even in light of the economic challenges of 2008 and 2009, Charley’s Grilled Subs continued its path for growth to the point that it is now in 44 states across the country, and 15 countries across the globe.

Shin says he is looking forward to the 400th store’s opening. “The Charley’s business principle, at its core, is based on community,” he says. “We owe our success to our customers—without them, this unprecedented landmark would not have been possible. For that reason, we’re so excited to share this event with the city of Memphis.”
