Cheeseboy’s second annual Free Grilled Cheese Day resulted in the quick-service chain giving away 4,822 grilled cheese sandwiches to customers at its six locations.

Cheeseboy held Free Grilled Cheese Day on Sunday, April 22, from 1–6:00 p.m. Cheeseboy gave away the Cheeseboy Classic, a sandwich with creamy white American cheese on Italian bread.

“Free Grilled Cheese Day exceeded our expectations, due in large part to the enthusiasm of our customers who helped to spread the word on Twitter,” says Cheeseboy Founder and President Michael Inwald.

“We were blown away by the number of people who were happy to wait in line and who shared their photos. It’s our pleasure to give back to our customers who have helped us to grow this business so rapidly. We look forward to giving away even more next year.”

Cheeseboy will continue to celebrate April’s National Grilled Cheese Month with the opening of two new locations (Milford, Connecticut, and Jersey City, New Jersey) and its ongoing Cheeseboy Superfan contest, where customers can submit a video for a chance to win a year of free grilled cheese and $1,000.
