With the conclusion of the food-heavy holiday season, many people are starting to boost their exercise and diet plans, which is usually also accompanied by cutting out certain types of indulgences like dining at fast casual restaurants. To combat this trend, Mexican food concept, Chronic Tacos, rolled out its health-conscious menu options that include gluten free, vegetarian, and low carb dishes.

Gluten Free – All Chronic Tacos locations offer a variety of gluten free options. The tacos can easily be ordered gluten free by swapping flour tortillas with corn tortillas, and even a burrito can be made gluten free by making it a bowl. Other gluten free items include the Chronic salad which has dressings, like Jalapeño ranch and Chipotle lime vinaigrette.

Vegetarian – Any of the dishes offered at Chronic Tacos can be vegetarian friendly. The tacos, burritos, and salads can all be made with veggies, black beans, and white lime rice. All black beans and white lime rice are made without animal products, which means they are also vegan-friendly.

Low Carb – Every Chronic Tacos salad and bowl can be made low carb. Customers have a variety of options to choose from when selecting a low carb salad or bowl including al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, pollo asado grilled fish or shrimp, and more.

“We’re happy to offer our customers quick options that are not only flavorful and customizable, but that are also healthy,” says Michael Mohammed, CEO of Chronic Tacos. “All of our fish is line-caught and offers a great source of omega-3. One of my favorite dishes is the Chronic Salad with chicken, diced tomatoes, black beans, cilantro, and chipotle lime vinaigrette dressing which has 37 grams of protein and is only 370 calories.”

Chronic Tacos even has meal choices approved by dietician Nicole Ring, the director of restaurant and community partnerships for Healthy Dining.
