Clear Springs Foods, an employee-owned, vertically integrated food company, has taken possession and operational control of three additional facilities within the past few months.

Clear Springs has assumed control of two trout-raising facilities in Southern Idaho, which are adjacent to current operations. In addition, Clear Springs has acquired a brood operation to hatch trout eggs near MacKay, Idaho, in the north central portion of the state.

“We are pleased to take operational control and possession of these three facilities, which will increase our production significantly and allow us to provide additional fresh and frozen rainbow trout to our customers,” says executive chairman, president, and CEO Larry Cope.

“Protecting our pristine, spring-water resource has been a primary focus for many years,” he adds. “The possession and operational control of two of these properties is the result of diligent water mitigation negotiation efforts over the past several years. One of the facilities is immediately operational, while two of the other facilities will be renovated and brought up to Clear Springs’ standards within 12–18 months.

“Sustainability will continue to be a strong focus for our company,” he concludes. “Clear Springs Foods trout remains the leading rainbow trout brand in the USA. We will continue to strive to provide our customers with excellent service and innovative products.”

Clear Springs Foods, headquartered in Buhl, Idaho, was founded in September 1966. Today, Clear Springs is the world’s largest producer of aquacultured freshwater Rainbow Trout, and is privately held by an employee-owned trust.

This integration allows Clear Springs to control quality through to the primary distribution channels. As an added assurance of quality, Clear Springs’ products are packed under strict HAACP guidelines.

Clear Springs’ products can be found, fresh or frozen, on the menus of many fine restaurants and in the seafood sections of major supermarkets throughout the United States and Canada.

Clear Springs is committed to continuous process improvement and environmental stewardship.
