Sarku Japan, the largest and Japanese quick service chain in the United States, has opened three restaurants in Colombia, South America. This initiative is part of a multi-year master license agreement with Frisby S.A. to develop a minimum of 20 Sarku Japan restaurants over the next 10 years.

“We have opened three locations in the past three weeks and we’re very pleased with the results,” says Alfredo Hoyos Mazuera, the owner of Frisby S.A. “We are now operating in the cities of Pereira, Medellin, and Cali. We’re welcoming long lines of enthusiastic customers who are eager to experience Sarku Japan’s cuisine and enjoy its signature chicken teriyaki.”

Frisby intends to open five more restaurants before the end of this year: three in Medellin (El Tesoro Mall, Oviedo Mall, and Molinos Mall); one in Cali (Chipichape Mall); and one in Bogota (Calima Mall). Selected Frisby personnel were trained by a Sarku Japan franchise operations team to ensure high quality food and service were in place at each of the new restaurants.

“We’re pleased that Frisby Corporation is enjoying early success in Colombia,” says Ben Kitay, president, Sarku Japan.  “Alfredo and his entire team of professionals at Frisby are the perfect partner for us in Colombia. Colombia is a vibrant and dynamic market for us to begin our South American expansion.”
