Ken Calwell has been appointed to the top marketing post at Domino’s Pizza.

Calwell, most recently vice president—new product marketing, research and testing for Wendy’s International, Inc., will join Domino’s Pizza’s Leadership Team as Executive vice president—build the brand, in mid-July. Calwell will report directly to CEO David Brandon. Calwell will oversee all U.S. marketing initiatives, including advertising, market research, customer relationship management and new product development for Domino’s Pizza.

Calwell takes the reins from Patrick Doyle, Domino’s executive vice president of international, who served as interim executive vice president—build the brand, since the post became vacant in December 2000.

“Ken has extensive experience in the quick service restaurant industry, including eight years in the pizza segement,” says Brandon. “He has an incredible background; he’s extremely creative and he demonstrates an astute sensibility when it comes to working for a major franchisor. I’m confident our team of franchisees throughout the U.S. are going to find Ken and his ideas refreshing, forward thinking, and focused on building our brand and, most importantly, growing our sales.”

Calwell has worked at Wendy’s International, Inc., Pepsi Co., Frito Lay, Pizza Hut, and The Pillsbury Company.
