Domino’s Pizza LLC has selected NCR Corporation as its partner in planning and managing the implementation of Domino’s Next Generation Store System (NGSS) program.

The contract, announced February 2, 2000, means that NCR will work with Domino’s Information Services staff to identify requirements for the NGSS program and manage all phases of vendor selection, system design and pilot implementation, with global rollout expected to begin by early next year.

Domino’s NGSS is a major, forward-looking initiative to improve operational efficiency and provide the best possible customer service at corporate and franchise Domino’s Pizza stores worldwide. The program scope will encompass all aspects of store technology including telephony and computer hardware, software and services.

“We’re excited about the many emerging technologies that hold great promise for enabling us to serve Domino’s customers faster and more efficiently than ever before,” said Tim Monteith, CIO for Dominos. “NCR, as our partner in managing the NGSS program, will help assure that our new store solutions allow us to readily incorporate the best of these future technologies.”

Services to be provided under the agreement between NCR and Domino’s include:

  • Define NGSS requirements and assist in system design;
  • Apply business impact modeling techniques to determine return on investment (ROI) of each requirement;
  • Develop requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposals (RFP);
  • Identify, rank and evaluate vendors and assist in vendor selection;
  • Provide global project management services.

Another goal of the NGSS initiative is to standardize on one system in all Domino’s Pizza stores. To help meet this goal, NCR will work with Domino’s to build consensus among franchisees regarding the approach taken to meet the overall business objectives of the program. With this strategic alliance between franchiser and franchisee, Domino’s will be well positioned to succeed in the highly competitive pizza segment.

“Experience and dedication to the foodservice industry, as well as a global infrastructure, were among Domino’s key criteria in selecting a program management partner for this critical initiative,” said Brian Murphy, NCR’s vice president for Hospitality Industry Solutions in the Americas. “In addition to meeting those requirements, NCR was able to demonstrate a successful track record in managing other major retail technology projects.”
