East Coast Wings Cooks Up Quick-Service Prototype

East Coast Wings & Grill, known for their 75 flavors of buffalo style wings, is serving up another way for families to spice up dinnertime. Expansion efforts are building momentum as the North Carolina-based chain opens its second quick-service, On-The-Go location.

 

The On-The-Go restaurant features an abbreviated menu of 35 items, including wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. In addition, the new quick service spot offers take-out service for customers on the fly and includes seating for 60, versus the 140 average seats in traditional, full-sized East Coast Wings & Grill locations.

“Staying true to our quality product and service, the new On-The-Go location offers a convenient spin for our customers,” says Sam Ballas, CEO of East Coast Wings & Grill. “We are excited to bring communities a new way to enjoy our delicious food closer to home.”

The first On-The-Go model of its kind opened in January 2011 in Greenville, North Carolina. A second location opened this summer in Clemmons, NC.

Ballas adds “several other” On-the-Go prototypes are in the works, but that while he projects the casual-dining model to grow from 26 to more than 100 units in the next five years, the growth potential of the On-the-Go model is “unlimited.”

“Holding true to our brands philosophy- driving unit level economics, this On-The-Go unit allows our existing franchise base to expand in niche markets around their full serve model. The On-The-Go model is also designed to penetrate high-density markets, like New York City, as we hedge the coming real estate squeeze on space, and this model will be our international play,” he says.
