Edible Arrangements, the pioneer and leader in hand-sculpted, fresh-fruit arrangements, announced today that same-store sales for the first quarter are up 11 percent over the same quarter last year.

The chain has now experienced positive comp sales for more than 11 consecutive years.

In addition to its double digit comp sales increases, Edible Arrangements opened 16 stores in the U.S. and two stores internationally.

In addition, Edible Arrangements signed franchise agreements that will result in at least eight locations in the U.S, including in Topeka, Kansas; Seattle; Buffalo and Westbury, New York; New Bern, North Carolina; Chanilly, Virginia; and Orange City, Florida.

“Our brand continues to experience great growth in a number of domestic markets as well as internationally, and we are happy to welcome so many dedicated new franchisees to our system,” says founder and CEO Tariq Farid. “We are especially pleased to see our existing franchisees expanding their enterprises by adding a second, third, or even sixth store.”

Edible Arrangements is continuing its aggressive development with strategic expansion plans in targeted growth areas in the U.S. and beyond. With the store openings this quarter, Edible Arrangements is expected to meet its development goals for 2012.
