IRVINE, Calif.–April 29, 2002– El Pollo Loco, the Mexican chicken quick-service chain, announced today the chain-wide debut of Chicken Nachos, El Pollo Loco style.

The nachos will feature the chain’s celebrated chicken piled over a helping of tortilla chips and El Pollo Loco’s spicy pinto beans with two kinds of real California cheese (jack and cheddar) melted on top. The new dish also comes with sour cream and guacamole and can be personalized with any combination of salsas from El Pollo Loco’s salsa bar.

“It’s not often that you find authentic, restaurant-quality nachos at a quick-serve eatery,” said Margaret Jenkins, vice president of marketing for El Pollo Loco. “In addition to fresh ingredients and real melted cheese, our nachos feature a special ingredient that no one else has — our famous flame-broiled chicken.”

El Pollo Loco’s new chicken nachos will be marketed to consumers through a mix of point-of-purchase vehicles, including translites and counter cards.
