First Data Protects More Than 1B Payment Transactions
First Data Corporation, a global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, announced that more than one billion transactions have been protected using the First Data TransArmor solution, with more than four million transactions secured in a single day.
Since its launch in 2010, more than 380,000 U.S. merchants of all sizes across multiple industries are now more securely processing transactions with the TransArmor solution.
The TransArmor solution is available through various methods, including multiple terminal manufacturers and Value Added Resellers that have integrated the TransArmor solution into their point-of-sale (POS) solutions, such as VeriFone, Ingenico, Equinox, ID Tech, AJB Software, and XPIENT.
Additionally, the TransArmor encryption and tokenization technology is incorporated into all of First Data’s FD proprietary terminal line, as well as all of its eCommerce solutions, including the First Data Global Gateway e4 for online merchants.
“Reaching this new milestone validates the TransArmor solution as the industry standard to help reduce the security risks involved in accepting, transporting, and housing sensitive payment card data,” says Bruce Dragt, senior vice president and division manager of payment acceptance, First Data.
“It’s also a testament to our Universal Commerce vision that includes a flexible security solution that is easy to integrate into any merchant’s POS environment,” he adds. “With the number of merchants now using the solution on a variety of devices and crossing the one billionth transaction threshold, the TransArmor solution is considered one of the most widely deployed data-security services in the payments industry.”
The TransArmor solution fundamentally changes the way merchants protect and manage cardholder data. The TransArmor solution is designed to secure payment card data from the moment it enters the merchant environment throughout the entire transaction.
After the payment is authorized, sensitive payment card data is replaced with a non-sensitive, random token number that preserves the value of card data for merchant business operations but removes cardholder or transaction information that criminals might find useful.
