First of Many Planned Wendy's Opens in Singapore

Wendy’s/Arby’s International, part of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc., announced the opening this week of the first of 35 Wendy’s restaurants scheduled to be built by the Kopitiam Group throughout Singapore over the next 10 years.

The franchise restaurant is located in Lau Pa Sat Festival Market.

“The Kopitiam Group is a well-known and respected food service company. This opening marks an important milestone in our efforts to grow in key international markets,” says Andy Skehan, senior vice president of Wendy’s/Arby’s International. “Based on comprehensive analysis, we believe we have the long-term growth potential for more than 8,000 restaurants outside of North America, including a much stronger presence in the Asia/Pacific region.”

“The addition of Wendy’s quality brand will complement the wide range of good businesses that we currently have in Singapore,” says Alden Tan, managing director of Kopitiam Group. “We believe Wendy’s signature menu and excellent value will have strong appeal to consumers.”

Wendy’s/Arby’s International announced the signing of its franchise agreement with the Kopitiam Group in May 2009.

Wendy’s/Arby’s International operates a regional office in Hong Kong—established in 2007—to serve franchisees, suppliers, and staff throughout the Asia/Pacific region, while preparing for expansion into new markets.
