Freebirds Proves Burritos Really Can Be Healthy

FREEBIRDS World Burrito, the fast-casual burrito joint with the rock ‘n’ roll attitude, has announced Carpe 500, a movement to motivate guests to eat healthy without compromising taste in the New Year.

FREEBIRDS is inspiring guests to build awesome burritos, burrito bowls, salads, nachos, and more for less than 500 calories each with its new microsite, “Carpe 500,” designed to promote healthy choices and an easy-to-use calorie counter.

The site encourages guests to build their best-tasting burritos and share with others, and gives fans a chance to win one of 500 free burritos when they share their “build” with their Facebook friends.

With four sizes of burritos, four flavors of tortilla, and more than 40 freshly prepared ingredients, there are more than 35 trillion combinations at FREEBIRDS, and there are literally millions of combinations under 500 calories.

“People don’t realize that eating at a fast-casual burrito joint can be healthy and taste fantastic,” says FREEBIRDS president Jim Mizes. “We have low carb, low fat, vegetarian, you name it.

“All of our beans and chips are 100 percent vegan, and we offer several gluten-free items, including chips, tortillas, beans, salsas, sauces, and rice,” he adds.

The Carpe 500 contest will run through the end of January, and FREEBIRDS will select 500 lucky winners from those who share their burrito to their Facebook feed.
