In a tasty twist on the traditional, Friendly’s restaurants are celebrating their 77^th anniversary this year with a special, limited-time offer. On July 21, from noon to 5 p.m. local time, Friendly’s restaurants will be serving up a single scoop of their famous ice cream in cones or cups for just 77 cents.

“We can’t wait to celebrate our 77^th anniversary with our customers on our 77-cent Cone Day,” says John Maguire, CEO and president of Friendly’s Ice Cream, LLC. “We think of our customers as part of the Friendly’s family–and celebrations are for family!”

The family-friendly restaurant company marks its actual anniversary on July 18, coincidentally just three days after National Ice Cream Day on July 15.

“The timing couldn’t be better,” Maguire says. “July is National Ice Cream Month as well as our anniversary month, so we picked Saturday, July 21, as a perfect time to invite our customers to celebrate with us by offering them a delicious single-scoop ice cream cone at a special 77-cent price.

“We’re proud of our heritage and grateful to our customers who have made it possible. In 2011, our restaurants served up more than 1.63 million scoops of ice cream, a feat which makes us as happy as we hope it made the folks who enjoyed that ice cream.

“We hope all of our current friends, and some new ones too, will take advantage of our special 77-cent Cone Day offer on July 21 from noon to 5 p.m. to enjoy a 77-cent scoop of their favorite flavor and help us celebrate our 77^th anniversary.”
