Krispy Kreme Celebrates One Year of Hot Light App

This holiday season, once guests have unwrapped their latest high-tech gadget, they can treat themselves to the app that keeps on giving. In the year since its December 19, 2011, launch, more than 230,000 Krispy Kreme doughnut and coffee lovers have downloaded the free, award-winning Krispy Kreme Hot Light App.

They've also conducted more than 42 million searches for hot doughnuts and cool promotions from nearby Krispy Kreme locations.

"No longer do our fans have to be driving by a shop to see if there are hot Original Glazed doughnuts coming down the line," says Dwayne Chambers, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporate.

"Every day, thousands of Krispy Kreme fans throughout the country are getting alerts sent directly to their smartphones when the Hot Light is on at their preferred Krispy Kreme location," he adds. "What could be sweeter this season than having a Krispy Kreme Hot Light with you wherever you go?"

Along with Hot Light alerts, Hot Light app users are among the first to know about upcoming promotions and featured limited-time offerings. Guests can also use mobile devices to seek out a nearby Krispy Kreme when traveling through the United States.

The top ten markets using the Hot Light App to find hot doughnuts now are: Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Los Angeles, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Norfolk-Portsmouth-NewPortt News, Virginia; Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville, South Carolina; Greensboro-High Point-Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Washington, D.C.; Myrtle Beach-Florence, South Carolina; and Mobile-Pensacola, Alabama, Florida.
