Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation’s long-time franchise partner, KKD Lotte Holdings Company, Ltd., opened the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Shanghai, China, recently.

Shanghai is the largest city in China, and the new shop is located at the In-Point Shopping Mall on the vibrant Wu-Jiang pedestrian walkway. KKD Lotte also is Krispy Kreme’s franchisee in the Republic of Korea and Japan.

This is the first of 35 Krispy Kreme shops the franchisee plans to open over the next five years. The shop will offer 16 varieties of Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be made fresh daily, including the signature Original Glazed doughnut.

“Our one-of-a-kind Krispy Kreme products are now available in the exciting city of Shanghai, China, and we are extremely pleased that our long-time franchise partner Lotte will be introducing them to consumers in that part of Asia,” says Krispy Kreme President, International, Jeff Welch.

“Lotte’s experience and success with our brand in Korea and Japan, makes them uniquely qualified to share the Krispy Kreme experience with consumers in Shanghai.”

“We are very excited about turning on the Krispy Kreme Hot Light at the very first store in Shanghai, China,” says Kag Gyu Hwang, executive vice president of The Lotte Group and chairman of the board of directors of KKD Lotte Holdings Company, Ltd.

“We believe that Shanghai consumers are ready for the one-of-a-kind Krispy Kreme experience.”
