Krystal Company announces the return of its Real Vidalia Onion Rings, and the introduction of its new Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich. The onion rings, made exclusively from real Sweet Vidalia onions grown in the Vidalia region of Southern Georgia, are back for the summer by popular demand—but only until the Vidalia harvest season ends in the fall.

“Krystal burgers and Real Vidalia Onion Rings were made for each other: They’re both Southern icons, and they taste great together,” says Phillip Sanford, chairman and chief executive officer of The Krystal Company. “We’re proud to boast that Krystal is the only fast-food restaurant in the nation that makes their onion rings from real Sweet Vidalia onions.”

Krystal’s cult-like following awaits the arrival of this traditional Southern treat during the summer when the onions are fresh from the fields. Onion ring can purchase medium orders of Real Vidalia Onion Rings for only $1.39 and large orders for only $1.89.

Vidalia® is a registered U.S. Certification Mark of the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Krystal’s new Philly Steak & Cheese sandwich is made of tender marinated steak sauteed with peppers and onions, topped with Kraft® White American and served on Krystal’s pup bun.

“Nothing is more satisfying than responding to customer feedback by offering new additions to our traditional menu,” said Sanford. “The request for a steak sandwich was too hard to resist. We test-marketed it in Columbus, Georgia, and it was a stellar success. Any way you slice it, it’s a great sandwich.”

The Philly Steak & Cheese sandwich is now available throughout the Southeast for $1.19. For heartier appetites, Krystal is offering its customers a Steak & Cheese meal deal combo which features two Steak and Cheese sandwiches, medium fries, and a medium drink, all for $3.99. Step up the Southern flavor of this traditionally Northern meal by ordering Krystal’s Real Vidalia Onion Rings, available during the summer months, instead of fries for an additional 30 cents.
