The Krystal Company is proud to announce that Tom Murrill will be joining the company as its new chief people officer (CPO), effective Monday, May 4, 2015. He will report to CEO Omar Janjua.

“The new CPO position is a critical role that will align our core values to the company's strategies and how we operate on a day-to-day basis. I have worked with Tom before and know, firsthand, that he understands that delicate balance of business with employee needs when building effective teams,” Janjua says. “Tom brings to the table experience across many hospitality-driven industries.  He will be a strong team member as we grow the Krystal brand.”

As CPO, Murrill will be responsible for all aspects of human resources, leadership, and support for more than 250 company restaurants and 6,000 employees. He is a veteran of the hospitality and service industries with more than 30 years of human resources experience working in employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, recruiting, HRIS systems implementation, succession planning, and benefits and compensation in both corporate and private equity sectors.

Most recently, Murrill served as the vice president of human resources for Silver Airlines and then Western Global Airlines. He spent more than a decade at Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD. as their chief human resources officer and spent several years as the senior vice president of human resources for the Steak & Shake Company, a 75-year-old iconic restaurant brand with 20,000 employees in 21 states.

Murrill is a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University and a degree in law from Pepperdine University.  He served as a board member of the Wharton Human Resources Advisory Group, Nova Southeastern University’s Business School Advisory Group, and the president of the City of Columbus, Ohio Professional Theatre.
